Heat Assistance (LIHEAP)
What is LIHEAP?
LIHEAP stands for Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program. It is a federally-funded heat assistance program and energy assistance program.
LIHEAP aims to:
- Provide utility assistance by covering residential heating costs during the winter months
- Encourage regular utility payments through utility bill assistance
- Promote energy awareness and reduce energy cost and energy usage through weatherization and client education
Am I Eligible for LIHEAP?
LIHEAP eligibility is dependent on household size and household income. It provides assistance to both low-income renters and low-income homeowners. To apply online for LIHEAP, contact your local Family Development Center.
LIHEAP applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis from November 1st through April 30th (October 1st for households with elderly/disabled family members).
