The Family Development Center is the information, application and referral center for all of the income eligible programs offered by New Opportunities, Inc. to serve families, individuals and elderly people of Greene County.

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
When to apply:
Elderly (60 & over) and/or disabled apply October 1st to April 30th.
All other households apply November 1st to April 30th

LIHEAP is a federally-funded program that has been established to help qualifying low-income Iowa homeowners and renters pay for a portion of their primary heating costs for the winter heating season. By doing so, you can reduce the risk of health and safety problems (such as illness, fire or eviction). The assistance is based on household income, household size, type of fuel, and type of housing. LIHEAP currently has an income guideline of 200% POV or lower.

Food Pantry Intake
Food Pantry Intake available for the ARC at New Opportunities Greene County Family Development Center.
Clothing
Are you or someone in your family in need of clothing? Stop in to see the range of donated items available, examples include: clothing, coats, and shoes. The cost for the items is very minimal. The money received from these purchases is used to help out other crisis situations that do occur. All items are donated to center for re-sale. New donated items are received daily. To make a donation of clothing items, please contact Teresa to make an appointment.
FaDSS - Family Development and Self-Sufficiency Program
