April is Financial Literacy Awareness Month!
New Opportunities mission is to help families reach their highest potential in regard to their personal and economic self-sufficiency. Offering financial literacy education gives families the tools they need to build financial security.
With the success of Financial Literacy program which started in 2009, we are expanding the program this year! The Financial Literacy Coach will continue to work with families in crisis situations to help them set financial goals and connect them to resources throughout the seven counties.
New in 2018, Family Development Center coordinators in each county along with the Financial Literacy Coordinator will meet with five families monthly over a 5 – 6 month period with follow ups at 6, 9 and 12 months.
With the expansion of the program the Financial Literacy Coordinator, Sara will work with schools and in the seven-county service area to identify financial literacy needs for students and educate the public on barriers low income residents are facing.
New Opportunities is excited to be expanding the program!
