Head Start

The Head Start program is a federally funded program that can help build a foundation for your children’s success. Head Start’s overall goal is to promote school readiness for children from low-income families. Head Start education programs are income-based, so there are no costs for eligible families. 

Preschool Classes for 3 & 4-Year-Old Children

Head Start is a federal program for low-income families. There are specific Head Start standards that must be met in order to be eligible. The program is open to residents of Audubon, Calhoun, Carroll, Dallas, Greene, Guthrie, and Sac Counties.
 
  • Active learning experiences

  • Health & dental services
  • Parent involvement to help promote positive parent-child relationships
  • Services for special needs children & children with disabilities 
  • Full-day classes at certain locations
  • Bus transportation in many areas
  • Help families connect with resources and community services
  • Parents have an opportunity to serve on the policy council and volunteer in the classroom
