Iowa's Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG)

New Opportunities, Inc. is proud to announce we have been invited to participate in Iowa’s Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG). The counties of Audubon and Sac have been identified as counties of highest need based on the SPF SIG priority indicators, making them eligible for SPF SIG funding. The counties of Audubon and Sac are two of 23 counties to receive $18,000 each ($36,000) to start the SPF process beginning on April 1, 2011 through June 20, 2011. Additional funding will be available during each contract year through June 30, 2014.

New Opportunities, Inc will use the grant to assist the counties in developing a comprehensive plan for prevention infrastructure and to support selected local communities by implementing effective programs, policies and practices to reduce substance abuse and related problems. The goals of the grant are to prevent the onset and reduce the progression of substance abuse, including childhood and underage drinking: reduce substance abuse-related problems in communities, and build prevention capacity and infrastructure at the local level. New Opportunities, Inc looks forward to working closely with community members to effectively complete the goals of this grant.
