Heat Assistance (LIHEAP)
What is LIHEAP?
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), is designed to aid qualifying low-income Iowa households (homeowners and renters).
- In the payment of a portion of their residential heating costs for the winter heating months,
- To encourage regular utility payments,
- To promote energy awareness and to encourage reduction of energy usage through energy efficiency, client education, and weatherization.
Applications are accepted on a first come/first served basis at your local Family Development Center from November 1, 2010 through April 30, 2011 (October 1 for households with elderly/disabled member).
